Hey all
Sorry I've been so out of blogging lately - things have been a little crazy at work and home. I've caught the winter cold that's going around too so my brain hasn't been functioning too well.
However, I wanted to blog really quickly and let you guys know that I caught a sneak preview of The Golden Compass last night. For those of you who haven't heard all the hubub about this movie, you haven't been reading the blogs from skepchick, Friendly Atheist, PZ or ... skepchick or just read about the latest on the controversy here :)
Anyway, for those of you wondering about the movie itself, it's excellent. The story is engaging, the actors all do a fantastic job and the animation is breathtaking. I saw it with a mix of folks, some of whom had read the book, others had not and everyone enjoyed it.
I suggest forgetting about the controversy and watching it. Or, revel in the controversy and watch it anyway.

The contention over this film amazes me. I wasn't going to see it but now I think I will just because so many Xians are adamant that it be stomped out.
Like I said on my own blog, considering that The Passion of the Christ converted precisely zero people to Christianity I don't really anticipate The Golden Compass turning many people away from it.
